Tuberose: Polianthus tuberosa

The  tuberose double flower is known as "Pearl" or "Fragrance of the Gods". Its crossing scents of gardenia and jasmine are strongest in the evening. Thus its many different names referencing it to the Night.

The tuberose flower spikes reach 2 to 3 feet tall with long lasting blooms both on the plant and in the vase. Treat it like you would a gladiolus, in growing and arranging. Ground hardy zones 8-11. Dig up and store in a non-freezing place for the winter in all other zones.
Tuberoses can bloom two to three months after planting, depending on the individual bulb's internal clock and warmth of the soil. To acquire tuberose flowers most of the time, plant tuberose bulbs of different sizes and stagger times of plantings.

The tuberose is a great container plant. The tuberose needs well-drained rich, organic soil, water and Sun! Tuberose roots like it HOT.

Feed the tuberose once a month with an all-purpose fertilizer during the growing season.

Tuberose bare root plants now available.
